Solano: Double strike in emphatic Toon victory (StuForster/Allsport) |
But Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro has been recalled.
Coach Julio Cesar Uribe, under fire after this month's
humiliating 3-0 defeat in Venezuela, denied on Thursday there
was a rift with Solano after the surprise decision.
'I don't have to explain why a player is playing or not, I'm
the one who decides but that doesn't mean there is a problem,'
Uribe said.
'There is no difference or row between us, it's simply a
technical decision. Please don't turn this into a soap opera.
The match in Buenos Aires is of academic interest only as
Argentina have already qualified for next year's World Cup and
Peru are out of the running.
Both Solano and Pizarro have been criticised for saving
their best for their European clubs during the campaign.
Solano's club coach Bobby Robson has complained bitterly
about the Peruvian's transatlantic trips and warned him his
future at the club could be in jeopardy if he does not stop
playing for his country.
Pizarro was one of eight foreign-based players named for the
match. The rest of the squad is due to be named Friday.
Defenders - Juan Pajuelo (Bachilleres), Santiago Salazar
(Trabzonspor), Martin Hidalgo (Velez Sarsfield)
Midfielders - Marko Ciurlizza (Botafogo), Juan Jayo (Las
Palmas), Andres Mendoza (Bruges), Claudio Pizarro (Bayern
Munich), Flavio Maestri (Universidad de Chile).
