BUDAPEST, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Hungary coach Imre Gellei has
called on his players to raise their game for Hungary's final
World Cup qualifier in Italy on Saturday, despite having no
chance of making the finals.
Gellei has recalled Energie Cottbus playmaker Vasile Miriuta
who fell out with former coach Bertalan Bicskei for the match.
Bicskei was sacked by Hungary earlier in their World Cup
campaign.
Hungary lie fourth in European group eight with just eight
points from seven games.
'No matter what the situation, we will put up a good fight,'
Gellei told a news conference on Monday.
'Italy lead the group because they have world class players
and are exceptionally well organised.'
Italy top the group with 17 points and have a much better
goal difference than second-placed Romania. The Romanians lie
two points behind Italy and play third-placed Georgia on
Saturday.
Georgia are on nine points while Lithuania prop up the group
with just two points.
The runners-up in group eight will face a play-off against
the group one runners-up, likely to be Slovenia.
