Demand at Dens high for debut of Caniggia

Dundee were close to selling out tickets for Saturday's trip to Aberdeen, with fans desperate for their first sight of World Cup winner Claudio Caniggia.

A club source said replica shirts with Caniggia's name and squad number were 'jumping out the door'.

  • Dunfermline outcast Brian Reid has joined English Third Division club Blackpool on a month's loan.

The 32-year-old defender has fallen out of the first-team picture since the arrival of manager Jimmy Calderwood.

  • St Johnstone striker Kevin Thomas has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing an operation on his cruciate knee ligament.

  • Hibernian manager Alex Mc Leish has asked for defender Paul Fenwick to be released from international duty next month.

The summer signing is due to play for Canada in their final World Cup qualifier against Mexico on November 15. That would see him miss Hibs' home games with Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

  • Forfar are pleading for leniency from the SFA after learning Dave Bowman could be hit with an 11 -match ban. Bowman was sent off during Saturday's 5- 3 defeat by Berwick, and was later pulled up for four incidents of foul language.

Should referee John Fleming's report treat the incidents as individual offences, Bowman will be suspended until December 30.

  • Inverness striker Iain Stewart is expected to complete his move to Peterhead on Tuesday.
