Full-time: Dunfermline Athletic 1 - 2 Livingston
Soccernet.com

A stunning late comeback won the game for Livingston against Dunfermline with Barry Wilson's last-gasp strike sealing victory.

Trailing to Steve Crawford's eighth-minute goal, the Premier League new boys finally equalised with 16 minutes remaining.

Italian Massimiliano Caputo played a wonderful reverse-pass into the box for David Bingham and the former Dunfermline striker made no mistake with a shot inside the far post.

Dunfermline then caused panic in the Livingston penalty area from a long throw-in but it was Livvy who snatched the winner against the run of play eight minutes from time.

Caputo hassled Scott Thomson wide on the left and the Dunfermline defender's fumble let allowed the Italian winger to pass to Barry Wilson on the penalty spot who rifled home.

It was harsh on Dunfermline, who had set the pace from the beginning. As early as the fifth minute Thomson sent a decent-looking cross into the box which Gus MacPherson sent high over the crossbar.

Only three minutes later Gary Mason's shot was well parried by Javier Broto.

The Pars looked odds-on to score and just as the Livingston defence were clearing their lines, Ian Ferguson sent a pass wide for McPherson to chase.

The former Killie man crossed an innocent-looking ball into the box and as Broto seemed to be looking for offside Crawford headed in the ball from three yards.

The goal sparked Livingston into action and it was midfielder Steve Tosh - another former Fife rival with Raith - who took the game to Dunfermline with a determined dribble and shot which went just wide of the left-hand post.

Minutes later goalkeeper Scott Thomson came out to clear but kicked the ball off Dario Aurellio's back and it spun dangerously across the face of goal with Nathan Lowndes unable to capitalise.

Livingston made an early substitution to try to redress the balance, with Caputo - another player on loan from Brescia - replacing Lowndes for the second week running.

Almost straight away Dunfermline midfielder Scott Thomson raced up the right wing and fired an excellent cross for de Gier but his clipped shot to the far post was brilliantly saved by Broto.

Just on the half-time whistle Livvy had their best chance with Skinner making a hash of his header, leaving Davide Xausa with only the keeper to beat but his shot went just wide.

McPherson almost scored the goal of his life with a shot-cum-cross in the 54th minute which flew over Broto's head but just grazed the crossbar as the match turned into a scrappy midfield battle with neither side making any headway.

With the Livingston frontline depleted by Lowndes's early substitution - apparently for an injury - there were very few chances being created.

However, they shuffled their pack with wide-man Barry Wilson replacing Xausa and the changes paid dividends.
