Drop would hit Buddies hard
St Mirren manager Tom Hendrie admits the effects of relegation will be felt throughout the whole club if they lose their battle for Premier League survival.
He said: "It will be really difficult for a club like St Mirren if we do get relegated this season.
"It will have serious ramifications for the players and the club and it affects people lives and the size of squad we will have for next season."
He added: "It will be a major knock for the progress of a club like this - we want to grow as a Premier League club and if we go down it will be a massive set-back."
Injuries and poor away form have contributed to St Mirren now sitting on the bottom of the table with just two games remaining.
A win for nearest rivals Dundee United against St Johnstone would ensure their survival and mean relegation for the Buddies.
But Hendrie is determined that his players will concentrate only on what is happening in their game against Aberdeen at Love Street.
He added: "We can't influence what is going on at McDiarmid Park. All we can do is focus on our own game.
"Aberdeen are one of the form teams in the league just now and they aren't giving much away at the back, which is good news for them.
"We just have to concentrate on beating them and, if we do that, there is a chance that we can take this to the last game of the season - that's our aim just now.
"We won the last time we played them at Love Street but to be fair a bit of luck carried us through that day.
"Every game is different and you can't rely on past results but we are on a good run ourselves and it will be an interesting game."
Only defender Barry McLaughlin is doubtful for St Mirren with a thigh strain.
Aberdeen have confirmed that they have placed a bid for Shelbourne striker Richie Foran.
Ebbe Skovdahl has said that he would love to have the 20 year old Irishman at Pittodrie, however further news on the bid may be some weeks away.
David Lilley misses out for Aberdeen after picking up a groin strain.
