Albertz aims to finish with flourish

Jorg Albertz is determined to thank the Rangers supporters for enduring a miserable season by taking full points from their last two games.

Although the Ibrox side will finish the season without any silverware, they have now secured the second Champions League spot after their 4-1 win against Hearts.

And the German midfielder believes that, with the pressure off, Rangers can produce some exciting football for the fans.

He said: "There are only two games to come and we want to put on a great show for our fans.

"These two games are at home, so we should like to thank our fans for giving us a lot of support during the whole season.

"After all I'm very pleased with my performances so far. I scored 14 goals, although I got injured a few times."

Two of those goals came against the Tynecastle side and Albertz admitted he was delighted to play a big part in such a vital game.

The only sour note for Rangers came when skipper Barry Ferguson was shown the red card.

But Albertz insisted the commitment and impressive style of play on show by his team-mates made amends for the dismissal.

He told icons.com: "It was an exciting game against Hearts. Having defeated them 4-1 we will finish the season in second place and win a Champions League place.

"So we've achieved our goal. That game also was very important to Hearts as it was their last chance to win a Uefa Cup place.

"I really enjoyed the game overall. I scored two goals and set up another one.

"I couldn't have wished for anything better, especially in such an important game. That beats everything!

"The game became dramatic when our captain Barry Ferguson got sent off.

"After my first goal and the sending-off Hearts equalised, but fortunately Rodney (Wallace) scored to put us ahead after a dead ball situation.

"A little time later a Hearts player was sent off when the referee produced a second yellow card.

"The whole team had a terrific performance and our passing was really on song.

"Every single player wanted to win and when that happens there's not a lot that can stop you.

"The consequence of this was that I scored my second goal and finally I set up a goal for Tore Andre Flo."

A win against Rangers is vital for Kilmarnock, who are still battling for a Uefa Cup place.
