Berwick kept their promotion hopes alive with a 1-0 win at home to Queens Park despite missing a second-half penalty.
Rangers, playing their 16th game in 50 days, scored the decisive goal when Marc Anthony pounced on a defensive blunder after 22 minutes.
Anthony later hammered a spot-kick over the crossbar after John Whelan had been fouled.
But battling Queens Park ensured the home side endured a nervous finish with John Cunningham missing a great chance from just six yards.
In the last minute, Queens substitute Willie Martin was sent off for a foul on home goalkeeper Willie McCulloch.
