A well-taken double from Hamilton striker Michael Moore kept his side on course for promotion to Division Two with a 3-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Elgin.
The home side opened promisingly and midfielder Craig Tully twice went close in the first 15 minutes before Hamilton eventually began to take control of the match.
Young Elgin goalkeeper Michael Rae was under pressure from some quality crosses from the flanks and after 21 minutes he pushed a Steve Renicks centre narrowly wide.
A mistake from Elgin captain Willie Furphy led to Brian Vaugh striking a shot on goal only for home defender Craig Milne to make a vital block at full stretch.
The first half finished goalless but Hamilton started the second period in devastating fashion with Michael Moore looping a header beyond Rae from a Dylan Kerr cross just a minute after the re-start.
Eight minutes later Kerr was again the provider as his cross was only partially cleared and Davie McFarlane was on hand to drill home a low 20-yard shot.
Hamilton captain Jim Sherry volleyed over from close range in 70 minutes but the visitors sealed an excellent performance six minutes from time when Moore's turn in the penalty box beat two Elgin defenders and he slotted home from 10 yards.
