There was little to entertain the crowd in this top-of-the-table clash with both sides ruing a string of missed chances in a disappointing goalless draw.
Hamilton edged the first-half action but efforts from Martin Bonnar, David McFarlane, Stuart Callaghan and Robert Downs were all well off-target.
Downs had the best chance of the game just after the restart when he latched onto a splendid throughball from midfielder Gary Clark, but once again he sent his shot wide of the target.
In the latter stages of the game Cowdenbeath picked up the pace and began to pin Hamilton back in their own half, but they too were guilty of woeful finishing with both Graham Brown and Shaun King firing wide of the target with the goal at their mercy.
