Full-time: Dunfermline Athletic 3 - 1 Dundee United
Soccernet.com

Marinus Dijkhuizen and David Moss grabbed two late goals in the space of a minute to earn Dunfermline three points against Dundee United.

The Tannadice side had fought their way back into the game, Derek Lilley cancelling out Steven Hampshire's opener.

But Dijkhuizen and Moss struck at the double to seal victory for the home side.

Michael Doesburg and Hugh Davidson suffered a first minute clash of heads and although Davidson recovered quickly Doesburg had to be replaced by Lee Bullen.

Dunfermline went close after 13 minutes when Justin Dair's cross found Stevie Crawford in the box but the striker nodded just over the crossbar.

The Pars were attacking again two minutes later and this time Bullen had the chance to net but sent the header just past the post.

Danny Griffin had an attempt after 25 minutes with a long range effort but it deflected off Justin Skinner.

A minute later Dunfermline had the chance to take the lead at the other end of the park Dair flighted a cross into the area, which was met by Hampshire but his shot was just wide.

Dunfermline had another chance to go in front after 36 minutes. Dair was proving to be a menace on the right wing and he was again the provider to Crawford but goalkeeper Paul Gallacher blocked the shot.

But it was United who almost took the lead three minutes before the break when Griffin sent a short free kick to Jamie Buchan whose long range shot was just held by goalkeeper Marco Ruitenbeek.

A minute later United's Craig Easton became the first player of the game to be booked for a foul on Hampshire.

Two minutes after the restart Scott Thomson came close for Dunfermline with a long range effort - the ball deflected off Jason de Vos and was just held by the goalkeeper.

But the breakthrough came for the home side after 49 minutes.

A Crawford pass was picked up by Hampshire who fired the opener past Gallacher.

Andrius Skerla almost added the second two minutes later from a Barry Nicholson free kick but the defender nodded just over.

But Dundee United fought their way back into the game after 55 minutes. A Griffin corner pinpointed Lilley who nodded the leveller past Ruitenbeek.

In the 79th minute Thomson almost restored the Pars' lead with a well struck shot. Goalkeeper Gallacher blocked but couldn't hold the ball and the danger had to be cleared by de Vos.

But two minutes later Moss' shot was blocked by the goalkeeper but Dijkhuizen slammed home the rebound.

A minute later the Pars killed off the game when Moss met Bullen's pass to slot home the third.
