Berwick Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Forfar at Shielfield Park.
Forfar, under new manager Neil Cooper, deserved at least a point for a spirited and skilful show and they were desperately unlucky to go in at half-time without holding the lead. In torrential rain they swept Rangers aside.
Willie Stewart put them ahead from a Euan Donaldson pass in three minutes. Ralph Brand and Craig Farnon both almost increased the lead.
Berwick's top-scorer Garry Wood equalised in 26 minutes after Alan Neill set him up.
As the weather improved, so did Rangers and in a late onslaught Craig Findlay hit the crossbar, Martin Neil was foiled by a Stuart Gordon save and in the last minute he scraped the bar with a fine header.
