Full-time: Dundee 1 - 2 Hibernian
Soccernet.com

A magnificent overhead kick from David Zitelli midway through the second half provided the winning goal for high-flying Hibernian as they emerged 2-1 winners at Dundee.

John O'Neil gave Hibs the lead after 17 minutes but that had been cancelled out by Steve Tweed's header before the interval.

As fireworks exploded around Dens Park, Hibs started with a bang and wasted no time in launching an assault on the Dundee goal.

A free kick from 25 yards out gave Franck Sauzee an early chance and the Frenchman powered a shot that flew just over the crossbar.

Three minutes later an Ulrik Laursen effort was dropped by Dundee goalkeeper Marco Roccati but the danger was cleared by a vigilant Marcello Marrocco.

Dundee's first real chance of the game came after seven minutes when Gavin Rae found Claudio Caniggia in front of goal but the Argentinian striker failed to get enough power behind his header.

Hibs opened the scoring 10 minutes later as Mathias Jack burst through on goal and although Roccati was able to block, the ball ran loose and O'Neil followed up to fire home.

But just after the half-hour mark Dundee drew level as a Georgi Nemsadze free-kick pinpointed Tweed in the box and he bulleted a powerful header low past goalkeeper Nick Colgan.

Four minutes later Caniggia sent a cross through to Willie Falconer, who missed the pass. The ball was picked up by Rae and he should have given Dundee the lead but struck the ball over the bar.

After the restart Hibs dominated much of the play as they attempted to reclaim their lead but failed to create much in the way of real chances.

Ten minutes into the second half Marrocco resorted to a long-range effort for Dundee and his shot forced Colgan into a good save.

After 62 minutes O'Neil came close to adding his second from a Latapy cross when his shot from a tight angle forced a good clearance from the Dundee defence.

But Hibs' second goal came from the resultant corner kick as Latapy swung the ball into the area and Zitelli produced a magnificent overhead kick that sent the ball into the back of the net.

Substitute Juan Sara almost got Dundee back into the game with a minute to go when his shot was just tipped over the crossbar by Colgan.

And seconds later Latapy could have killed the game off but sent the ball inches wide after a great solo run.
