Stranraer twice fought back from a goal down to secure a 3-2 win in the south-west derby after handing Queen of the South an eighth-minute lead with a Dougie Johnstone own-goal.
The home side levelled with a searing shot from Billy McDonald after 23 minutes, but then went behind again to a superbly worked score by Jared Suddick after 41 minutes.
Stranraer skipper Keith Knox brought them level again on the stroke half-time, touching home after a move involving at least seven home players.
Both sides could claim missed chances in the second half before little Paul Walker, man-of-the-match, gave Stranraer a superb winner in the 59th minute.
Some bad-tempered challenges led to bookings late in the game.
Stranraer's Billy McDonald and Ian Harty and Queens' Peter Weatherson were all booked.
Stranraer were still well in charge and should have scored more in what was their second win against near-neighbours Queen of the South this season.
