Partick Thistle emerged with a 2-1 victory over Queen's Park to consolidate their place at the top of the table thanks to a deadly double from Scott McLean and partner Martin Hardie.
Queen's Park fought valiantly throughout this Glasgow derby, but were second best to Thistle, who had magnificent service from man-of-the-match Mark McNally, defender Alan Archibald and the imaginative Danny Lennon and Allan Moore in midfield.
The Jags went ahead in the 10th minute when Hardie was in the right place to net a lovely Scott McLean pass from close range.
The Spiders equalised in the 24th minute when Mark Gallagher picked up the ball in midfield and sent it forward to Kevin Finlayson.
Thistle defender Alan Archibald appeared to be impeded in the process of tackling Archibald, but despite Thistle's pleas for a foul the referee allowed the ball to run to Gallagher, who beat Thistle keeper Kenny Arthur all ends up with an 18-yard strike.
Thistle regained the lead in the 36th minute courtesy of McLean.
He netted from close range to make it nine goals from his last eight games.
The Spiders gave their all in the final 15 minutes, with substitute Ryan Scobie producing a series of tempting crosses but, sadly for him and his fellow Spiders, there were no takers.
