An inspirational performance by Steve Hislop was not enough to secure East Stirling all three points as Dumbarton fought back to earn a 1-1 draw at Firs Park.
The tall striker was the architect as the home side took the lead after 33 minutes through debutant David Lorimar.
He was on hand to finished from six yards after Hislop had carried the ball from the half-way line and sent a low cross into the box.
While the home side had a number of chances, Dumbarton controlled the closing stages and the Sons strove to make amends for the goal they had disallowed for off-side in the first half.
However, despite having the only clear-cut chances their lack of firepower seemed to have condemned them to defeat.
But with 10 minutes left a corner from Willie Wilson caused a goalmouth scramble before the ball landed at the feet of Paddy Flannery, who shot home from six yards to rescue his side.
