A David Moss goal gave Dunfermline all three points against Dundee at East End Park.
The game was not the most exciting of events, but Moss's 61st-minute effort was pure quality.
Barry Nicholson sent Chris McGroarty clear on the left, and when his cross came over Moss leapt to send an unstoppable header into the Dundee net.
After losing 3-0 at Dens Park earlier in the season, the home side were determined to get their revenge.
It was Dunfermline who created the first chance in the fourth minute when Jason Dair burst into the Dens box.
But the defender's shot from 12 yards was blocked by defender Stephen Tweed.
Dundee were looking to play on the counter-attack, and their lone attacker Claudio Caniggia was being tightly marked by the Pars defence who were well aware of the ex-Argentina international's ability.
It was the Fifers who had the best of the early position, with Dundee content to sit and soak up the pressure.
But the hosts struggled to create openings, and Dundee looked dangerous on the break with Caniggia almost beating Pars goalkeeper Marco Ruitenbeek with a header in the 11th minute.
Dunfermline defender Justin Skinner had to foul Caniggia to prevent the Dens striker latching on to a dangerous through ball from player-manager Ivano Bonetti.
Two minutes into the second half Dunfermline created an opportunity in the visitors' box, but Moss then Dair were both reluctant to shoot and the ball was eventually cleared to safety.
On 54 minutes Dundee created their best chance of the game when Caniggia left Skinner trailing on the left hand side.
The Argentinian swung a cross into the box. Barry Smith was on the end of it but somehow managed to head over from five yards out.
Minutes later Caniggia set up Gavin Rae at the edge of the Dunfermline box, but the midfielder's shot went well wide.
Then on the hour mark the home side took the lead with Moss's well worked goal.
Nicholson threaded a lovely pass through to McGroarty on the left, and when a young defender's cross came over Moss outjumped the Dundee defence to crash a header in off the bar.
Dundee could have equalised on 76 minutes when Caniggia again set up Rae - but once more the midfielder fired wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.
In the final stages the game was swinging from end to end. Nicholson could have sealed it in the last minute, but his lob from the edge of the box went narrowly wide.
