Forfar striker Ian Ferguson missed the chance just 12 minutes from time to snatch victory for his side in this goaless draw.

Put through by a cross from Willie Stewart the striker sent his weak shot wide of the target with only keeper Gordon Bruce to beat.

But that would have been hard luck on the home side who cut out a number of chances themselves, but could not convert any of them.

After only 17 minutes Forfar keeper Stuart Garden defied Frankie Carroll when he blocked his shot and then he turned over the bar a header from Mark Gallagher.

Just a minute into the second half Carroll again missed a great chance when in front of goal he somehow lofted the ball over the bar.

And 20 minutes from time, the Spiders had a chance again to break the deadlock but the ball fell to Carroll who shot past from good position.

And in the final seconds Forfar almost pinched it but keeper Gordon Bruce saved a close-in shot from Willie Stewart.
