Montrose finally registered their first win of the season with a 2-1 win at East Stirling.
Their first three-pointer of the league's campaign was well merited, and in no small part down to striker Jonathan Mitchell.
The front-man put the visitors in the lead after just two minutes and then doubled their advantage with his second of the game on 20 minutes.
Shire threw everything at Montrose after the interval, but all they could manager was what turned out to be a consolation effort from Gregor McKechnie in 57 minutes.
The match had barely started before Mitchell fired a shot past Shire keeper Jim Butter in two minutes. He picked up a rebound from his initial shot which Butter had failed to hold and that put them on their way.
On 20 minutes Craig McKellar crossed from the right for the unmarked Mitchell to tap the ball in from six yards.
After the interval, Montrose endured a heavy barrage of home pressure which culminated when McKetchie out-jumped visiting goalkeeper Gary McGlynn to head home Dougie Todd's cross, but the home side could not find an equaliser.
