A last minute strike by Gary Clark set up Hamilton for a smash and grab raid as they beat struggling Dumbarton 3-2.
Goalkeeper John Wight made his first start for Dumbarton and was immediately put under pressure by home defender Jamie Bruce.
But Wight quickly cleared the ball to safety after Bruce sliced a clearance into the area.
Dumbarton took the lead after just seven minutes from the penalty spot when Hamilton midfielder Robert Prytz brought down Joe Robertson inside the box and the Dumbarton man converted from the spot.
Robertson missed another chance himself minutes later and Andy Brown twice saw headers sneak wide as the home side stepped up the pressure.
Dumbarton had to look lively as Hamilton fought back and Alex Grace and Craig Brittain did well to foil efforts by Martin Bonnar and Mark Nelson.
Michael Moore saw a fine shot pushed around the post by Wight before the striker finally made the opening to bring Accies level. Moore's blistering drive beat Wight at his right-hand post.
Dumbarton almost went back in front before the break when Andy Brown set up Paddy Flannery, but his strike partner's looping shot crashed off the cross-bar.
David Stewart had a good shot well saved by Accies keeper Ian MacFarlane and the home side twice went close to going in front when Flannery and Grace both had chances.
Hamilton's Bonnar blasted them into the lead on 56 minutes with a close-range effort after Moore had wrong-footed Wight.
Struggling Dumbarton levelled when they were awarded a penalty on 88 minutes and Flannery scored from the resulting spot-kick.
But their joy was short-lived when Clark struck just before full-time, enabling Hamilton to grab all three points.
