Queen's Park secured their fifth but most comprehensive victory of the season thanks to a Ross Caven penalty and a Paul Borland drive to beat Stenhousemuir 2-0.
John McCormack's side made heavy weather of securing the points as they passed up chance after chance starting as early as the ninth minute when Stephen Marshall sent the ball inches past the post.
Both keeper's then showed their worth before half-time with Stenny's Garry Gow saving a net bound Greg Miller header, while Colin Stewart in the home goal stopping a well struck David Menlaw's shot.
After Stewart saved from Peter Cormack in 47 minutes it was all Queen's Park but their failings in front of goal looked to be evident again until 18 minutes from time.
Flying winger Kevin Finlayson was sent sprawling by Tom Graham and Caven struck his 99th goal for the Spiders from 12 yards out.
In the last minute Bowland's drive from the edge of the box was deflected past Gow into the back of the net, but it was no more than Queen's Park deserved.
