It was a glory day for Airdrie as they ran riot at Morton, beating them 5-1.
It was also a personal triumph for both playmaker supreme Antonio Calderon and wing-wizard David Fernandez with the former orchestrating from midfield and the latter setting up chances galore for their trigger-happy mates.
It looked rosy for Morton when they opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Karim Boukraa, but the cheers had not subsided before Airdrie equalised - sadly for Morton via the own-goal route.
Barry Elliot's cross-cum-shot was flashing across the six-yard line, but the ball struck defender Andy Millen and bounced into the net.
Just on the interval Fernandez put Airdrie 2-1 ahead.
Following more magnificent midfield work involving himself, Calderon and Fabrice Moreau the glittering Diamonds proceeded to run riot.
Goals from Moreau (56 minutes) and Craig Ireland making his debut (65 minutes) were followed eight minutes from time by a beauty from substitute Salvador Capin with a super chip.
