Stirling Albion took a suprise lead after 16 minutes to eventually run out 2-0 winners over top-of-the-table Stranraer.

Stirling opened the scoring when Ally Graham fed the ball to Charlie King, whose left-wing cross was swept home by Graeme Donald from six yards.

Albion doubled their advantage after 20 minutes when King held off his marker to shoot low past Mark McGowan after he was picked out by John Millar.

Alex Williams came close for Stirling after 26 minutes, but was unlucky to see his lob from 20 yards hit the top of the bar with the goalkeeper beaten.

The youngster was having a good game and after 37 minutes set up Graham Donald whose header was just wide.

League leaders Stranraer's best chance of the half came in the 36th minute, but Chris Reid produced an excellent save to deny Tommy Brice.

Stranraer had a chance after 53 minutes but Mike Gerrity's header was saved by Chris Reid.

Eight minutes later Ian Harty sent Paul Walker clear but he shot wide of the far post.

Albion also had a couple of chances in the early part of the second half, but McGeown saved well from Tony McStea and Charlie King.

Stirling went on to claim just their third win in 20 matches with an excellent all-round performance.
