Torino survive Intertoto scare

LONDON (Reuters) - Torino have survived a scare at Austria's Bregenz to claim a 1-1 draw and a place in the Intertoto Cup third round with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Trailing 1-0 from the second round, first leg tie in Italy, Bregenz took the lead in the second leg with a fifth-minute strike from defender Peter Hlinka.

But the Italian club hit back two minutes after halftime through Cristiano Lucarelli, and now face Spanish club Villareal in the third round.

Villareal drew 2-2 at Iceland's Hafnarjordur in their second round, second leg tie for a 4-2 aggregate win.

Germany's VfB Stuttgart completed a 3-0 aggregate victory over Lokeren of Belgium with a 1-0 second leg win on Saturday, courtesy of midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb's 89th-minute strike.

Stuttgart meet Italian club Perugia in the third round.

England's Aston Villa also enter at the third round stage, and they play Swiss club FC Zurich.

The third round, first legs take place on July 20-21.
