ROTTERDAM (Reuters) - PSV Eindhoven edged into the semi-finals of the Dutch Cup when they beat Feyenoord 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in which neither side managed a golden goal in extra time.
Utrecht joined PSV in the last four when they beat Heerenveen 3-1.
The other two quarter-final matches, between Ajax Amsterdam reserves and second division side Stormvogels/Telstar Velsen and Ajax
Amsterdam against Groningen will be played on February 7.
Feyenoord took an early lead when Jon Dahl Tomasson scored after five minutes when he struck with a half-volley from just outside the
box.
PSV levelled in the 57th minute when substitute Mateja Kezman struck from close range.
In the penalty shootout Leonardo dos Santos missed Feyenoord's second kick and Wilfred Bouma had the chance to win it for PSV only
to see his effort saved by Edwin Zoetebier.
As the shootout headed into sudden death Brett Emerton missed and Dennis Rommedahl kept his cool to fire PSV into the next round.
Utrecht, unbeaten at home in the Dutch league this season, went 1-0 down after 40 minutes when Erik Edman netted for Heerenveen from
a free kick.
But Utrecht equalised in injury time of the first half with a free-kick from Pascal Bosschaart before a goal by Igor Gluscevic put them in
front.
Heerenveen could have levelled in the 73rd minute when Karim Tuzani brought down Markus Allback in the box and was sent off for his
second booking, but Anthony Lurling missed from the spot and then failed with the rebound.
Heerenveen went forward in search of the equaliser, but were caught on the counter attack in the final minute when Dirk Kuyt decided the
match.
