AMSTERDAM, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Ajax Amsterdam came back from
two goals down and with ten men on Wednesday to beat Twente
Enschede 3-2 and keep the pressure on Dutch league leaders
Feyenoord.
Feyenoord also won, beating RKC Waalwijk 3-2.
An 86th minute goal by Wamberto handed Ajax the three points
in a second half fightback before their home fans after Egyptian
striker Mido was sent off five minutes before half time with
Twente in the driving seat.
A total of 26 goals were scored in six first division
matches and Feyenoord stayed on top with 31 points from 13
matches, two points clear of Ajax who have played one more
match.
NAC Breda, who beat NEC Nijmegen 3-1, moved to third overall
with 27 points from 15 matches.
Ajax were 2-0 down and struggling after Jack de Gier scored
in the fourth and 15th for Twente. Mido was then sent off for
kicking an opponent and Amsterdam seemed destined for a third
successive defeat.
But Ajax stepped up their game with ten men, and Andy van der
Meyde pulled a goal back after 53 minutes.
Rafael van der Vaart then scored with a free kick in the
75th minute before Wamberto grabbed the winner with a fierce
shot four minutes before time.
Feyenoord took an easy 2-0 lead in the first half with Ebi
Smolarek opening the score in the 34th minute, taking advantage
of a bad pass back to the goalkeeper, and Paul Bosvelt adding
the second in the 45th minute.
The leaders then let RKC back into the match in the second
half. RKC striker Rick Hoogendorp scored from the penalty spot
in the 53rd and levelled eight minutes later.
Smolarek, set up by Pierre van Hooijdonk, hit the winning
goal with 15 minutes to play.
Utrecht and PSV Eindhoven shared the points in another
exciting match, a 3-3 draw in Utrecht.
Utrecht were unbeaten at home and started aggressively
against the injury-hit champions, taking the lead after four
minutes with an own goal by PSV defender Yuri Nikiforov.
PSV levelled half an hour later when Mateja Kezman only had
to tip in the ball after the Utrecht defense failed to clear it
from the box.
In the second half Utrecht pushed hard and went 3-1 up
through Igor Gluscevic in the 50th minute and Patrick Zwaanswijk
six minutes later.
PSV bounced back and after 62 minutes Jan Vennegoor of
Hesselink headed home a Kezman cross and nine minutes from time
the Yugoslav striker scored his second of the match.
Young Sparta striker Danny Koevermans sunk Willem II Tilburg
with a hat trick to win the match 3-2 from being 2-0 down early
in the first half. Dmitri Shukov scored both Willem II goals.
