ROME, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Italian league leaders AS Roma want to sign Fiorentina and Italy goalkeeper Francesco Toldo when the transfer market reopens in January, Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The paper said Roma were willing to pay £12million for Toldo and give Fiorentina their veteran goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli and Brazilian defender Aldair in part exchange.
Toldo was linked with Roma in the close season. He was due to join them alongside Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta but the deal fell through and Batistuta moved to Roma alone.
Toldo appeared keen to leave Fiorentina after their turbulent 1999-2000 campaign but recently signed a new contract tying him to the Florence club until 2005.
