Soccernet.com

ROOSENDAAL, August 16 (Eredivisie) - Eredivisie new boys RBC Roosendaal and FC Zwolle fought out an entertaining draw to kick off the Dutch league season Friday.

RBC made all the early running and got their just reward in only the eighth minute.

Peter Maseland, a late entrant into the starting line-up after David Nascimento failed a fitness test, fired home right-footed from Mitchell Pique's cross from the left.

Debut boy Ebou Sillah, on loan from Club Brugge, also had an extremely lively first half but was unable to take advantage of the multiple chances that camehis way.

FC Zwolle could not make their mark on the game as goalkeeper Johann van der Werff and his defenders were kept under constant pressure.

The second half was a tighter affair as the visitors began to overcome their first match nerves and started creating chances of their own.

Half-time substitutes Andre De Ridder and Arjan Bosschart injected some much needed freshness into the midfield, and strike duo Maurino Promes and Dominggus Lim-Duan began to threaten.

The front pair combined to create Zwolle's equaliser in the 72nd minute.Promes' clever pass found Lim-Duan in space and his strike flew past Maikel Aerts in the RBC goal for the equaliser.

However, the danger was not over for Zwolle as RBC threw men forward in search of a winner.

Sillah's replacement Geert Den Ouden had two good opportunities to win the game for RBC was unable to capitalise, shooting over when well-placed and having another effort comfortably saved by Van der Werff.
