Parma 2 - 2 TSV 1860 Munich
PARMA, Italy, Nov 23 (Reuters) - TSV 1860 Munich fought back with two goals in the final 11 minutes to earn a 2-2 draw with Parma in their UEFA Cup third round, first leg match on Thursday.
The Italians were without all four of their recognised forwards but took the lead in thick fog in the second minute when Ghanaian Stephan Appiah fired home from the edge of the penalty area.
French midfielder Johan Micoud, playing as a stand-in striker, doubled Parma's lead nine minutes later when he robbed defender Ned Zelic inside the area and coolly finished.
TSV twice went close to scoring before the break when Thomas Haessler struck the post with a 25-metre free kick and then Australian Paul Agostino hit the woodwork with a well-struck shot.
It was not until the 79th minute that the impressive Munich side were able to gain some reward for their spirited play when Czech midifielder Roma Tyce picked up a loose ball, swerved past Fabio Cannavaro and slipped the ball past Gialuigi Buffon.
TSV grabbed an equaliser in the final minute when Markus Beierle drove home a right-wing cross from Daniel Borimirov.
