A highly promising young striker snapped up by Sunderland from AS Cannes in the summer of 2001 on a Bosman free deal.
Signed as one for the future, he made his debut in a 2-0 defeat at Fulham in the opening month of the season.
Played ten games in his first season as the club but failed to get on the scoresheet. His only start came against Sheffield Wednesday in the Worthington Cup.
Bellion said he was happy with his first year at the club. He told the club's official website: 'There is so much to learn about football in England but I want to learn, I want to play and I am determined that I will do well here. The first season has been a wonderful experience for me but I think I will come back better next season.'
