Made his League debut for the Baggies at Stockport County in April 1998 and sadly made an unfortunate start by making a costly mistake in a 2-1 reverse.
Spent time on loan at IK Brage, Mansfield and Halifax where he gained valuable experience and returned to the Hawthorns the better for it. He began to match up to the promise he showed in the reserve team.
After the departure of Phil Whitehead he became second choice to Brian Jensen. But then the arrival of Russell Hoult pushed him back down the order. Made just 14 appearances in his first five seasons at the Hawthorns.
Adamson has good reflexes and takes responsibility in his area.
Signed a new contract in the summer of 2002, but found himself out on loan again in December of that year, to Halesowen Town.
