A tough and uncompromising defender or midfielder, Todd - son of Swindon manager Colin - plays a ball-winning role in the team.
An occasionally over-abrasive approach has seen him pick up some unnecessary bookings, but at his best he is a positive influence on the side.
Began his carrre as a trainee at Middlesbrough and went to Swindon on loan in 1995. Made his first club move to Bolton in the same year for £250,000.
Won the Division One Championship with the Lancashire club before joining Charlton in 1999 for £750,000 and winning it again.
Had a much-publicised fall out with the club when he was involved in a training ground fracas with an un-named player. However, Dean Kiely's shinner in the next match was a bit of a clue!
Was welcomed back into the fold, but was farmed out on loan to First Division strugglers Grimsby Town in February 2002 - along with Martin Pringle. Helped keep the Mariners in the division with three goals in 12 games.
Left The Valley in May 2002 to join Blackburn Rovers. The fee was initially £750,000, but could rise to £1million on appearances.
Todd told Rovers' official website: 'I was attracted by the size of the club and the players. There are some exciting young players here and the prospect of being in the same team as them encouraged me to sign.
'I came up for a trial and took part in training, I knew from the start it felt right. And I made my mind up that if Rovers were to offer me a deal, I would sign straight away.'
Made his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 UEFA Cup draw with CSKA Sofia at Ewood Park.
