Started the 2000/01 season battling for a place in the Forest first team having been on the fringes of the side for some time.
Gray has been on loan to Preston and Oldham, but Platt has suggested he has a role to play at the City Ground.
Started out at Leeds and made 22 first team appearances for the men from Elland Road before moving to Forest for £200,000. Has also played for Scotland Under 21s.
But he failed to make a real impact and in March 2001 was to be loaned out to Second Division strugglers Swindon Town. But the Swindon board vetoed the move and the deal was dead.
