Wimbledon's Mr Consistency, this Irish international right-back was signed from south London neighbours Millwall in 1994 as part of a joint £1.25million deal that also took striker Jon Goodman to Selhurst Park.
Calm and composed, his superb defending and overlapping attacking play have made him arguably one of the club's best-ever buys, and he has captained the side on numerous occasions.
Cunningham shone in the Premiership, and did the same in the First Division after the Dons were relegated in 2000. His skills and all-round team-play were be vital as the Dons tried to bounce back into the top flight.
Travelled to the 2002 World Cup with the Republic of Ireland, and played well in two substitute appearances as Mick McCarthy's side reached the second round.
On his return he was hunted by Premiership newboys Birmingham City, and in July 2002 he moved to St Andrews for an undisclosed fee - believed to be in the region of £3.5million. He penned a four-year deal.
Cunningham has played 306 games for Wimbledon.
Cunningham told the Blues' official website: 'I am very pleased to be signing for Birmingham because it is a very unexpected opportunity for me. After the World Cup I was looking forward to starting the season with Wimbledon but things happen very quickly in football.'
