Football Association officials have refused to confirm reports that Mark Bosnich's B sample has verified a positive test for cocaine.
If the reports are true, Bosnich could face the sack from Chelsea and is likely to be charged by the FA.
He has reportedly been suspended without pay by the London club since his first test revealed a positive finding last month.
But FA officials have so far said nothing about allegations that the second test has confirmed the findings of the A sample.
A Chelsea spokeswoman said: 'Chelsea have heard nothing official from the FA, and until we do we cannot comment.'
Advisors for former Aston Villa and Manchester United keeper Bosnich said he had been diagnosed with severe clinical depression shortly after the first test results were revealed.
A statement added: 'On medical advice, he was admitted to a depression unit of a medical facility to obtain treatment for that depression.
'It would not usually be appropriate to release this type of information, which is private in nature, but it has been decided to do so on this occasion to prevent speculation.'
