Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp has escaped a ban after being found guilty of stamping on Blackburn's Nils-Eric Johansson at Highbury.
It had been thought possible that Bergkamp would be banned for three games during the Christmas period after the FA took action having seen video evidence of the incident.
The Gunners star, who was not punished by referee Graham Barber, had maintained his innocence and argued that his momentum had accidentally carried him into Johnansson.
But an FA statement read: 'Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp has been found guilty of improper conduct at a disciplinary hearing in relation to an incident involving Blackburn's Nils-Eric Johansson during the match at Highbury on 26 October.
'He was fined £5,000 and warned as to his future conduct.'
The finding of improper rather than violent conduct spared Bergkamp from facing a ban.
He served a three-match suspension last season after being sent off following a similar incident involving Liverpool's Jamie Carragher.
