Stoke have released Guinean striker Souleymane Oulare by mutual consent with immediate effect, football executive John Rudge has confirmed.Oulare joined the club in the summer of 2001 on a free transfer from Fenerbahce, although he made only two appearances last season due to illness and injury.
The 29-year-old then underwent a hernia operation this summer, which kept him out of manager Steve Cotterill's plans this term, and a decision has now been made to cancel his contract.
Rudge said: `Souleymane has returned to Belgium and we have released him from the remainder of his contract, which had the rest of this season to run. We wish him all the best for the future.
`It is a great pity, for he came to us as a player of great potential with plenty of European experience, and a good track record of scoring goals in Belgium with Genk.
`He could have been an excellent signing for us, and there is no doubt a very unfortunate combination of circumstances worked against him after he joined us.'
