Commentary legend Kenneth Wolstenholme, whose coverage of England's 1966 World Cup victory has become part of broadcasting folklore, has died at the age of 81, his agent has announced.
Wolstenholme uttered one of the most famous lines in broadcasting history when he said: 'They think it's all over... it is now!' as Sir Geoff Hurst scored the final goal in England's 4-2 win against the former West Germany.
His words have become as much a part of the history of the 1966 competition as film of action from the Wembley final.
His career saw him commentate on 23 successive FA Cup finals and five World
Cups, and he was the first-ever commentator on BBC's Match of the Day.
But he was always most impressed by that 1966 side, and said: 'It wasn't just a team - Alf Ramsey formed a football club in 1966. I have always felt privileged to be part of it.'
