McLintock puts medals up for sale

Arsenal legend Frank McLintock is selling his collection of football memorabilia, including his 1971 league championship and FA Cup double medals.

The collection includes the former Gunners skipper's seven cup final medals, plus Scotland international jerseys and caps. McLintock explained: 'I haven't seen my medals for years. My house was burgled some years ago but fortunately the medals were missed, and since then they have been locked in a bank.

'There are five gold medals in the collection and the insurance on them to keep them at home is expensive. My shirts and caps are also in storage. I sometimes forget I've got them because I don't see them.

'I am not struggling for money but I think it is time to cash in and put the proceeds to good use. Hopefully they will go to someone who can put them on display.'

Among the items for sale are two of the Scotland caps won by McLintock. The former defender is also selling nine international jerseys.

The auction will take place at the beginning of December, and McLintock's agent, Dave Davies, has arranged for it to take place at the Sports Cafe in London.
