My goal torment won't last long, says Rosler
By Alan Bromsgrove

Striker Uwe Rosler has vowed to end his goal drought and fire Southampton to their first win of the season against Newcastle.

The German, who arrived at The Dell on a free transfer from Borussia Berlin in the summer, has failed to find the target in five games. But Rosler is confident that he can end his barren run against Newcastle.

He said: 'I can look myself in the mirror and know that I'm doing everything. At the moment things are not going for me in front of goal, although I've gone close a number of times. I'm confident goals will come soon.'

Glenn Hoddle is backing the 31-year-old to break his duck but Rosler's form in front of goal has been a major concern for the Saints boss, combined with injury problems affecting Marian Pahars, Matt Le Tissier and Kevin Davies.

Hoddle said: 'Uwe has been getting into some fantastic positions but the ball just hasn't been going in. 'We've been creating plenty of chances but we haven't been taking them and that's why we're still waiting for our first win. But that's the way it goes for strikers.

'I'm sure he'll get off the mark soon and that will help everyone.'
